Hi, I'm Jenny Solar.  My husband Josh and I have been wedding and portrait photographers for almost seven years! solarphotographers.com  When we first opened our business, we didn't have a clue what we were doing. We both have a background in business (Josh has a Master’s Degree in Entrepreneurship & I have a Master’s Degree in Accounting), but we still made a TON of mistakes. Some of those mistakes cost us a lot of money and some of those mistakes cost us a lot of time. And both of those things are very valuable to us!

 

It is my goal to help other photographers learn from our mistakes. We recognize that most photographers are so great at what they do because they are creative people. And we also recognize that creative people tend to run far away from the “business side” of running a photography business.

Well, we’re here to tell you that you don’t have to run any more! We’ve created some brilliant tools that will help you master the business of photography so that you can spend more time creating art WHILE running a profitable business!  

I’m going to be really honest here… When we first started our photography business, we sold 4×6 photographic prints for $1. I am not lying. And we actually made LESS profit if we sold a ton of products than if we had just sold the disc and moved on. I’m pretty sure that we made about 25 cents an hour during our first year of business. And the second year wasn't much better.

And then something magical happened in the third year of business: we started doing in person sales sessions.

And like… well, magic, our average portrait sale more than doubled overnight. Woohoo! (It’s not too hard to double a $150 average sale.) Over the next five years, we learned SO MUCH about how to sell in person and do it well. I keep thinking, “if only we had known then what we know NOW.”

I will teach you, learned-on-the-job tips, tricks and strategies to help you make the jump from online sales to in-person easily and with great confidence and success!

We will cover making the transition from online sales to in-person sales, getting started, setting client expectations, setting goals, strategic pricing, influencing the sale, and deflecting excuses.
