Pick a cooking partner and come enjoy a unique opportunity to visit Melissa's historic West Bottoms studio and spend 3.5 amazing hours learning how she’s been making roman specialties, ketogenic style – using local, fresh ingredients. The menu includes a popular antipasto (appetizer), homemade ricotta cheese, zucchini  lasagna, and dessert. Then you’ll enjoy the meal you helped prepare with low-carb wine, bulletproof coffee and great company.  Become educated, the fun way, on the principles of a Ketogenic way of eating.

INCLUSIONS

The price includes all cooking instruction, a 3-course meal with wine, coffee and a beautiful harvest dinner table to dine at… not to mention, you get to meet new friends who share a similar interest.  Plus, we’ll email you the recipes to remind you how to recreate Melissa's delicious dishes in your own home!  We will learn how to make homemade ricotta cheese that you can take home with you too.  Melissa will also give information, along the way, about the Ketogenic lifestyle and way of eating.

DIETARY RESTRICTIONS

The meal will include dairy and beef. It is possible to make the lasagna very delicious and meatless.  If you do not eat meat please let Melissa know and we can prepare a lacto-ovo-vegetarian version for you.

WHAT TO BRING

Please bring your cooking partner.  This class is offered in groups of two. All food and drinks are provided as part of the class. We ask that you bring your eagerness to learn, meet new people and perhaps learn some more about the Ketogenic way of eating along the way. Above all, we ask you to come and have fun!

WHAT IS THE KETOGENIC WAY OF EATING

A ketogenic diet consists of mostly good fats, moderate protein, and very low carbohydrates. These categories (fat, protein, carbs) are macronutrients, and these three are the building blocks of all nutrition. The reason the ketogenic diet is called “ketogenic” is because that it allows the body to shift its fuel source from carbs (bad) to fat (good) and, in so doing, creates ketone bodies (which form in three ways: beta-Hydroxybutyrate, acetoacetate, and acetone). These ketones develop as a result of fat oxidation, and they supply the body with the required fuel..

START TIME

This class starts at 6:00pm and will end somewhere between 9:30pm - 10:00pm.  Please try to be on time as we don't want you to miss any of the fun. We have VERY LIMITED SEATING so if you would like to reserve your 2-spots, now is the time! The class takes place in a loft studio built in 1880 in the neighborhood of West Bottoms in Kansas City, MO. 


About your Cooking Instructor ...

Melissa Slater was born in 1976, raised as the oldest of five children to an Italian / Native American mother who educated them to live holistically.  She taught Melissa how to use the freshest ingredients and make her own food, from scratch, whenever possible.  Last year Melissa had a doctors visit that was very concerning for her.  She took matters into her own hands, remembering what her mother taught her and began to study nutritional healing.  She discovered the Ketogenic way of eating and adopted it as her nutritional plan for recovery.  Since then she has been not only healing herself but has also become a teacher to many others.  She is currently back in school studying to get her Diploma in Nutritional Coaching and is excited to share what she has learned about food and how it can heal.  Melissa is not selling any products or plans she is just wanting to help others and have a fun time doing it!
